Brighton Marathon 2012

02 August 2011

Registration for the Brighton marathon is closed now.

You can show your support to our Brighton and Virgin London Marathon runners by donating on their Just Giving pages.

With 2012 being the year of the Olympics, what better time to set yourself the challenge of completing the Brighton Marathon?

The Brighton Marathon is now in the top 12 UK annual running events and Catch22 has 10 places available for this great experience.

A minimum sponsorship of £500 is required; though feel free to raise even more!

The Brighton Marathon course

The race route for the Brighton Marathon starts with a loop of gorgeous Preston Park, and then takes in the best of the city centre including Brighton Pavilion and fabulous stretches of coastal road, including panoramic views where the South Downs meet the English Channel.

Overall, the course is fast, run exclusively on roads and tarmac promenade. The whole route is traffic free with barriers separating competitors from spectators and potential hazards where necessary. There are some undulations in the route, principally in the first 11 miles of the race, but the good news for entrants is that the last 15 miles are either flat or downhill. This makes it ideal for runners of all levels of experience. The last mile is along the seafront road beside thousands of cheering spectators, while the finish line is in Madeira Drive, just east of the spectacular Brighton Pier.
