NCAS
20 July 2010
The National Care Advisory Service (NCAS) - supported by Catch22 - is the national advice, support and development service for children in and from care (age 13 to 25) and those who work with them.
NCAS aims
- To promote improvement in outcomes for young people in and from care by supporting work at a national, regional and local level.
- To support the specific implementation of the Care Matters agenda for young people in and from care across the country.
- To support corporate parents, local authorities and others to empower young people to be fully involved in the design, development and delivery of successful services and outcomes.
- To be a centre of excellence and source of expertise on transitions issues for young people in and from care.
- To build and draw on our evidence base, including the work of our partners and other organisations, to inform our messages.
- To work locally and regionally to influence the national and international agenda on transitions and leaving care.
The difference we make
'I know I am achieving something and that the end result will ultimately benefit me for my future and mean I can do what I want to do. I am also making a positive difference for other people's lives. It's hard work but at the end of each day I have a sense of achievement.'
Young care leaver.
