Northamptonshire Accommodation Service

We support young people and young adult offenders to find suitable affordable housing and then help them to maintain their accommodation. We work across Northamptonshire including Northampton, Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough using a combination of independent workers and properties managed by us.
 

How we help

We are able to offer intensive help at critical times, such as ‘moving in’ or leaving prison, whilst supporting people with developing the skills needed to cope with living safely, securely and independently in the community. This may be for a short period of time or for up to two years. The people we support have little in the way of role models and networks of support when starting with Catch22. 

The support can include:

• setting up home for the first time
• reducing risk in the community
• help with budgeting and benefits
• finding a GP or dentist
• menu planning and cooking
• supporting with finding training or employment
• sign posting to relevant agencies
• help with accessing education, employment or volunteering opportunities
   

Involving young people and others

Our monthly reviews are all about the views of the people using our service, their progression and what could be done better. We have a forum that has a theme for discussion followed by an activity.
 

Involving volunteers

We recruit and train volunteers as mentors.

We need volunteers to give regular support and encouragement with practical independent living skills, ie shopping, cooking, DIY, and taking up activities within the community.

Referrals

 All our referrals are through probation, MAPPA, and borough housing.
