Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London
As the first to establish A&E embedded youth workers, we have a deep and unrivalled expertise in the intersection of health and youth sectors.
Trauma-informed practice is key to our work – we understand that children and young people affected by violence and exploitation have complex needs and stories. We operate a consent-based model – we will not work with a young person unless they want us to.
Our approach is uniquely holistic, considering every aspect of a young person’s life. We work alongside children and young people, going at their pace. We find out what they need, what their goals are, and build a support network around them to help them to get there.
Whether it’s a focus on safety, mental health, training, education, or housing, we let young people lead us in the direction of the future they hope for.
In 2023/24 we supported 1,680 children and young people through Redthread services.
