Our approach

The only specialist hospital-based young women’s service in the country, we have a deep and unrivalled expertise in the intersection of health, youth and VAWG sectors.

Trauma-informed practice is key to our work – we understand that girls and young women affected by violence and exploitation have different experiences and often more complex needs – which often remain hidden. Our specialist Young Women’s Service helps young women’s voices to be heard and break the cycle of violence and exploitation.

Our approach is uniquely holistic, considering every aspect of a young woman’s life. With the young woman’s consent, we work with them to make sure that they are safe. At their pace, we work together to develop an action plan that meets their needs and aspirations. This could include nurturing their emotional wellbeing, developing their self-advocacy and re-engaging with education, training and employment.

It’s about consistency. It’s about being that one person that doesn’t give up on that young woman.
