At Catch22 College, we specialise in offering learning and training opportunities for students who, for whatever reason, don’t want to stay in a traditional academic environment.
To do this, we spend a lot of time getting to know our young people, understanding and addressing barriers they may face both in terms of their education, as well as more generally.
Our dedicated staff build a bespoke plan of learning for each young person that supports their educational and pastoral needs, with regular progress reviews on a one-to-one basis to make sure that everyone stays on track.
Catch22 College: Peterlee delivers a wide range of vocational and academic qualifications depending on the young person’s needs and aspirations.
Our vocational qualification areas include Construction, Health and Social Care, and Customer Service. We also offer English and Maths from Functional Skills Entry Level to GCSE.
Our staff understand that everyone progresses at their own pace which is why we deliver a roll-on roll-off programme.
This means that young people can join us at any point in the academic year. We are also able to progress people at any point, meaning we are always ready and able to support people in the best possible way.
We recognise that the correct and appropriate careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) is key to our young people. We have qualified and impartial staff on-site, alongside guest speakers, to ensure we meet the needs of all our young people throughout their journey with us.
The College also offers a range of workshops to support and enable learners to gain employability skills. This is achieved through a variety of means which are tailored to the young person’s needs and aspirations, including guest speakers, apprenticeships, housing and pastoral support.
Our dedicated staff encourage all of our young people to access work placements, and can help to source and support young people into vocation-specific work experience placements. This realistic insight into the world of employment. can help to develop skills and confidence in entering the world of work.
We also offer group work placements and tasters for those who are not quite sure what they would like to do yet.
Support is available for six months after a young person has left the College. The initial contact is via phone to ensure they have maintained their destination and are happy. If needed, further support is offered face-to-face.
I am happy at Catch22. The staff are supportive, and I enjoy working towards my Level 2 qualification in Customer Service. I am looking forward to starting my work placement.

Referrals can be made directly to the College by the young person themselves, or by an agency or service working with the young person can refer them.
To do this please contact us via phone or the accompanying form. We will then invite you in for a meeting to have a look round the College and meet the staff team. At the meeting impartial information, advice and guidance will be given to ensure the College is the most appropriate destination for you. If you are happy and would like a place, we will then start the enrolment process and your induction.
