HMP Wandsworth’s Through the Gate Resettlement service will be delivered by Catch22 from today.
Catch22’s new service will provide tailored support to address criminogenic and resettlement needs to both new entry prisoners and those being released into the community – with the aim of helping them to settle back into community life and reduce reoffending.
The new contract means Catch22 now delivers resettlement services in 15 prisons across the country – and a total of 21 different custodial services in 18 prisons.
Matt Randle, Assistant Director of Justice at Catch22, said:
“We pride ourselves on delivering high quality and impactful services which do more than simply hit targets.
“In Wandsworth, we’ll be embedding our wider Catch22 services in the offer – including our LGE service and Employability services – to maximise impact. We also routinely work with peer mentors who support service users whilst serving their own sentences, which has proved hugely successful in our other services.”
In the last 12 months, Catch22’s Through the Gate services have recorded impressive results. in our London Through the Gate Cluster we achieved consistently strong contractual performance of 98% of Basic Custody Screening Tools (BCSt 2 &3’s) being completed within timescales with 97% of these meeting expectations or above in quality assurance audits. Furthermore, 95% of Service users reporting positive feedback and 98% of those eligible completing the Getting it Right course (typically delivered in the last 12 weeks of custody and focusing relapse prevention, social support and treatment needs, benefits advice and job hunting.)
Matt Randle added:
“We’ve got strong housing and employment partners, and expertise in providing advice on health, finance, families and relations, which means we can help people in even in the complex situations get back on track. We’re looking forward to working in HMP Wandsworth to make a real different to the lives of prisoners so they can return to society safely and with real prospects.”
